Inbox Delegation for People Managers

WHEN SHOULD YOU DELEGATE YOUR INBOX?

You should delegate your inbox to a superior, subordinate or a peer if you are taking time off for 2 or more days consecutively.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO DELEGATE YOUR INBOX?

Delegation temporarily reassigns your Workday inbox tasks to another user, enabling that user to perform individual actions on your behalf. The delegate you select is restricted to the tasks you delegate to them. You may want to delegate time sensitive items to someone else on your team on your behalf for the employees that you support. An example is a time off request or time off correction; time submitted for approval (for your hourly staff); or a termination.

HOW TO DELEGATE YOUR INBOX TO SOMEONE ELSE?

If you are a manager of people or you are in a role that supports people (HR Partner or Benefits Partner) and you request 2 or more days off, an inbox item will appear after your request has been approved by your manager to delegate your inbox.

1. Navigate to your inbox/ my tasks

2. Click on the Manage Delegations

3. Select Manage Delegations

4. You must enter a Begin Date for delegations, and End Date, and a Delegate (who will receive the items in your absence). The system will default "For all Business Processes" meaning, any inbox item that comes to you, your delegate will also receive. Once all selections are made, click Submit. This will route to your manager for approval

Note: if you have requested time off, and have received a To Do: Delegate your Inbox, please see below:
