How to Set Goals in Workday as an Employee

1. Once you are logged into Workday, navigate to your employee profile.

2. Click on Performance at the left of the screen, then click on Goals along the top toolbar.

3. Any previously set goals will display. To create a new goal, click on Create Goal. 

  1. To edit a Goal set for you, click on Edit Goal and begin at step 6 below.




 

   4. In the Create Goal pop-up, fill in the name of the goal and

a detailed description. Select a status, category, and due date.

DO NOT CLICK SUBMIT.

 

5. Click on Additional Details. In the track by field, select Percent. The Target Percent should be 100. DO NOT CLICK SUBMIT.



6.  Click on Milestones and enter desired milestones within the overall goal. 

To add, click on the plus sign, in the upper left corner of the template. Enter a name

for the milestone, set a due date, and select a status.


 

7. Once the goal and milestones have been entered, click on Submit at the bottom of the screen. When the goal is submitted, it will be locked, pending manager approval.

a. Your manager will receive an approval task in their Workday inbox.

 

8. Once the goal has been approved, you will receive a notification in Workday. 

The goal can also be edited at this time.


 

9. To update your Milestones or overall goal, navigate back to your profile and click on Performance, then Goals at the top of the page, then click on Edit Goal. When edits are 

complete, click Submit. 

a. Your manager will receive an approval task in their Workday inbox. Once the edits 

have been approved, you will receive a notification.
