How To: Job Title vs. Job Profile

JOB PROFILE

A job profile is the foundation of all jobs or positions in the organization.  Job profiles identify and define general job and position characteristics, such as the job title, job description, compensationpay type, and tenant security.

You can assign a job profile to multiple positions and/or workers.  Job profiles may have a one-to-one relationship with a position such as a CEO or a one-to-many relationship with multiple positions such as Recruiter.

Note: Pay type is also tied to the Job Profile.  You will see that some Job Profiles exist in the system twice, such as Recruiter-H and Recruiter-S.  The H stands for Hourly and the S stands for Salary.  It is important to make sure you are choosing the correct pay type.  Choosing an incorrect pay type can prevent compliance with certain state’s wage laws.

JOB TITLE

A job title is term that defines a worker’s job or position.  Multiple job titles can belong to the same job profile, such as Allied Recruiter and Travel Recruiter both fall under the Job Profile of Recruiter.
